The Bellizima staff had the pleasure of attending the first Color Theory 101 class in the Soho location at Tigi Academy this past November. Our educator Bobby Scott broke down color science, from the fundamentals to the advanced formulas we see today. We began with with hair science, the different layers of the hair strand and hair health and structure. We also did a deep dive into color including the different sized molecules and the capacity of Tigi Copyright to break the mold of traditional hair color and make reds more vibrant, brunettes richer and blondes bolder. The science learned allows us to lighten hair several shades with precision and without brass. We also learned the same products should not be used year round, but rather cyclical by the season.
There are three booster treatments, in addition to the at-home care. For example, the SOS Treatment can allow us to make our blondes lighter in a session. We encourage all of our clients to book a consultation and a treatment for their color. There should always be a barrier between the hair and ANY styling tool. The class ended with homework (!) that is graded and checked by our educator.
There are only 3 locations in the United States for the Tigi Academy – we were thrilled to be fortunate to attend one close to our salon as a team.
